Recreational Guide School on the Rogue (New for 2008)
Dates: June 8 - 15, 2008 (8 days)
Price: $995
The
Rogue's class III rapids are ideal for learning to read water and maneuver
oar boats. This guide school is intended for those with little or
no river skills who are looking for tips and techniques for reading
water and rowing oar boats. We will also spend time covering safety skills,
river etiquette, camp set up, and river cooking.
This course is different from our professional guide school. We won't spend the first day of the school loading equipment, instead we'll launch at an upper put-in so that we can get some extra river miles. We'll bring lighter oar boats and at least one cataraft that the students will rotate between. Each night in camp, the camp and cooking classes will be optional and more informal.
The last day of our recreational guide school will be spent at our Oregon guide house where we'll spend the day covering river safety topics.
Disclaimer: Guide School schedule and location are subject to weather, river flows, and open roads.
