Dressing safely and comfortably (not to mention fashionably) for river trips
is a challenging task. It is very important and should not be taken lightly.
On the Middle Fork of the
Salmon, it is usually very warm and comfortable, but you should be prepared
for rain. Early season trips (late May and June) should be well prepared
for cold weather and rain. No matter when you go, we recommend that
you prepare yourself for three basic scenarios:
- A cool
day on
the river
- A warm
day on
the river
- Time spent lounging in
camp
During the summer months (July and August), the Rogue and Tuolumne can
be quite warm and rain is rare. We recommend preparing for the following three
scenarios:
- A warm
day on the river
- Time spent lounging in
camp
- The remote possibility of cold weather or rain
Take care of these, and you are free to let the river and the canyon work
their magic.
