Upper Bashkaus Itinerary
A high excitement Class IV-V trip in Siberia!
Please note that traveling through Russia is an adventure in itself. This itinerary may change due to events beyond our control, but if it does we'll do our best to maintain the flavor of the journey.
Day 1 - Depart U.S. for Moscow
Fly from the United States and arrive in Moscow, Russia. You may opt to arrive a couple days early to explore Moscow and acclimate to the time change. You are responsible for meals and lodging in Moscow, but we'd be happy to make recommendations.
Please be sure to book your flight so that you'll meet up with the group on the morning of Day 2.
Day 2 - Meet in Moscow
You'll meet the group in Moscow and take an overnight flight to Barnaul.
Day 3 - Arrive in Barnaul, Depart for Bashkaus
This will be a big travel day. You'll arrive in Barnaul in the morning and depart for the river by bus to the Seminskij Summit (263mi). You'll camp overnight with the group.
Day 4 - Hike to Put-In
The bus will continue on with equipment and some guides. You have the option to continue on the bus, or choose to hike the remaining distance through some stunning terrain to put-in. Camp overnight.
Day 5 - Hikers Arrive, Camp at Put-In
Bus will arrive at put-in on Day 4, so guides will have prepared equipment for launch. Hikers will arrive at put-in. Camp overnight.
Day 6 - 12 - Rafting the Bashkaus River
Rafting the Class IV-V rapids on the Bashkaus! You'll camp each night and we also plan to have a layover day to enjoy some wonderful hikes, fishing and a traditional banya, or river sauna (it's a Russian thing!).
Day 13 - Last river day, Take-out
You'll raft to the Saratan Canyon and take-out upstream of Ust’Ulagan Village . You'll spend one last night camping at take-out.
Day 14 - Travel to Barnaul
You'll start early for breakfast and then have a long bus ride back to Barnaul. Upon arrival to civilization, you'll spend the night at a local hotel and have a farewell dinner with the group.
Day 15 - Fly to Moscow
You'll depart Barnaul by air for Moscow and can transfer directly to your international flight or spend the day in the city. You are responsible for meals and lodging while in Moscow.
Day 16 - Return to U.S.
Depart Moscow for U.S., or onto your next adventure!
