This September ECHO will partner with American Rivers for a very special trip on the Rogue River to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Wild & Scenic Rivers Act. American Rivers is the nation’s leading river conservation organization, and a member of their staff will accompany this trip to answer any questions you may have about this unique river and ongoing efforts to protect it.
The Rogue River, located in southern Oregon, was one of the original 8 rivers protected by this legislation in 1968. With this Act, sponsored by Senator Frank Church from Idaho, Congress intended to create a national system of protected rivers that co-existed with use and development and preserved the character of these national treasures. The Wild & Scenic Rivers Act remains the strongest legislation available to protect rivers and their ecosystems and ensures that our nation’s rivers “shall be preserved in free-flowing condition” and “be protected for the benefit and enjoyment of present and future generations.”
On this special trip, you will not only experience the beauty of the wild Rogue, but also benefit from an expert’s knowledge of river conservation! As always, ECHO will provide awesome river guides, delicious meals and a legendary adventure for each participant.
You will spend 4 days experiencing the Rogue's fun rapids, plentiful wildlife and scenic beauty. Camping under the stars for 3 nights will complete your appreciation for this famous river. Join us, and others across the nation, by embarking on this signature trip to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Wild & Scenic Rivers Act.
