Rogue and Middle Fork Guide, Smile Leader, and Nutrition Counselor
Trina
entered our lives (that's what she does!) after a Grand Canyon trip where
she met several other ECHO guides. She is an experienced guide with a
reputation for her big heart, warm smile, and great cooking.
She has a degree in art from UCLA and loves drawing and painting. Trina also enjoys backpacking, hiking, yoga, cooking, and traveling and speaks Spanish and Portuguese, which she learned while living in Brazil.
We asked her why she loves river trips, and her reply was,
"I love sleeping outside on warm summer nights and slipping into dreams with the sound of the river in my ears. I love watching for the moment the sun peeks out above the eastern edge of the canyon to warm my skin in the morning. I love the excitement of navigating whitewater and the feel of the river taking me downstream. I love looking up from chopping vegetables or washing dishes to see an osprey cruising by or a bear ambling down a wash across the river. I love the rocks and water and the swirls and gurgles and rushes of their dance together. I love the simple beauty of the wildflowers. I love the generosity of a sky full of stars. And I love one of the greatest luxuries that living on the river affords: the ability to find and express your authentic self without the distractions of life in town, like phone calls, material desires, and mirrors. On the river, my mirror is the sky."
Trina will spend this season on the Rogue before heading to Washington to continue working on her graduate degree in nutrition and pursue studies in holistic health.
