Rogue River Guide
Jessica
grew up in Oregon where she spent her youth exploring the Cascade Mountains.
She went to college at the University of Montana where she worked on
two degrees while exploring the rivers and mountains of Montana. She
returned to Oregon to finish her BS in Organizational Communications
from Portland State.
While in college she went backpacking in Alaska's Talkeetna Mountains where she truly fell in love with the wilderness, but she realized that she missed the rivers and ocean. She says "I have always been drawn to water. Playing in it has opened my eyes to beautiful places, fantastic people and some really cool stuff!"
Our Rogue River guides found Jess while she was working as a ranger on the Rogue for the BLM and we quickly talked her into working for ECHO. She says "It’s been a mutual love of starry nights, camping with bears and meeting excellent folks ever since." At all of 5 foot 2 inches Jessica’s resume looks something like this; firefighter and emergency medical technician, wedding coordinator, back country medicine instructor, bartender, waitress, river conservationist, and most recently professional river guide.
She has spent months backpacking across Thailand and Cambodia, road tripping around Canada and exploring the Nicaraguan country side. She hopes life never becomes too normal, believes everyone should be a waitress at some point in their lives and is most at peace playing in the dirt. She is currently living in Eugene working in youth development, outdoor education and fundraising.
