Frequently Asked Questions
What are the age requirements?
The minimum age is 6 to raft the Class II-III, full or half-day sections. The minimum age is 8 to raft the Nugget Powerhouse Section.
Do you need previous experience?
Nope. You'll get a detailed safety talk before you hop on board and our experienced guides will teach you paddling commands and what to do in case of an emergency.
What does Class II, III or IV mean?
Rapids are classified from Class I being a gentle wave to Class VI being a waterfall. Beginners and intermediates can handle up to Class IV as long as they are supervised by professional guides. We would recommend some experience for anything Class V or over, but you won't find that level of rapid on the Rogue.
When's the best time to go?
For those looking for a little more action, the highest water will be seen earlier in the season, May-June, when the weather can vary from warm and sunny to cooler with showers. The warmest and sunniest weather will be July-August, and there is still plenty of water to keep the trip exciting. September can be rainy or sunny, so plan accordingly.
What should I wear?
It will depend on the weather. For May or June trips, wetsuits may be required (but are provided) or you may opt for a water-wicking shirt and pants or shorts. When it is hot and sunny, July-September, you'll want to wear a bathing suit, shorts and optionally a shirt that you don't mind getting wet. For all trips, shoes are required and will get wet, so opt for a type of river sandal or old tennis shoe.
