Since the Middle Fork of the Salmon River is free of dams, the flow varies greatly throughout the rafting season. The selection of dates above reflect the relaxing season to travel down this spectacular river. This is also the best time of year for fishing.

At the lower flow, we change our put-in location because the first 25 miles of the river are too low to run. There is still plenty of whitewater, but because of the lower water level, these trips are a great choice for kids.

You'll want to choose one of these late season dates if you:

  • Want to raft 75 miles of the Middle Fork from Indian Creek to Cache Bar, including the famed Impassable Canyon
  • Want to experience the best time for fly-fishing
  • Want 5 days and 4 nights of "river time"
  • Would enjoy a short flight in a small plane into the river with a spectacular view
  • Are looking for exciting but not huge whitewater
  • Want to paddle an inflatable kayak (or ducky) your entire trip
  • Hope for warm and sunny weather
  • Are comfortable setting up and taking down your tent when necessary
  • Would like to bring kids age 7 and older
