Middle Fork of the Salmon Sweep Boat Driver, Guide School Instructor, Office Manager and All Around Great Guy
Zach
Collier began guiding for ECHO in 1998 on his favorite river, the Tuolumne in California. After spending winters earning an MS from Stanford
in Mechanical Engineering, he took a job teaching high school math so
that he could continue to have his summers free to spend on the river. Zach spent three seasons driving the sweep boat on the Middle Fork
of the Salmon and also developed, implemented and instructs our Guide Schools.
He quit teaching a few years ago to work for ECHO full-time as general manager. He now works in the office doing mounds of paperwork, maintaining the web site, and helping Joe retain his title as "the Most Modern Man in America."
Zach is remembered by guides and guests alike for his competitive spirit in games like chess, hunker-houser, and Koob. He recently completed the NYC Marathon and also enjoys skiing. His favorite movie is Top Gun; his idol is fellow guide Rio Hibarger; and he's a Scrabble genius!
