Ian Secrest

Middle Fork of the Salmon Guide

Ian has a cool and calm maturity about him and that, combined with his sense of humor and attention to detail, will make him a good leader under any circumstances.

- P. Harrison, Middle Fork guest

Ian is a native of the Flathead Valley in Montana where he taught himself to row inflatable boats on the North Fork of the Flathead River as a youngster. After injuries kept him from soccer, fly-fishing became his passion and he is striving to be a fly fishing guide in his native Montana. His passion extends to an "undying love of nature and constant effort to become more one with nature."

Ian graduated from Montana State University with a B. S. in Business Management and Entrepreneurship that will help with his current livelihood as an apprentice in the craft of timber framing. He is hoping that his combination of skills as a river guide, timber framer, and fly fishing guide will allow him the time to take advantage of the blue ribbon fisheries and the Class IV rapids of the Gallatin River near his home in Bozeman.

Throwing modesty away here - I have an awesome work ethic - as do the rest of the ECHO guides. It is an awesome event to watch 6-10 guides work so well together for extended periods of time.

- Ian Secrest

Ian loves kids and cooking, which makes him a big hit on river trips. His favorite part of a river trip is around the campfire in the evening in anticipation of plunging into huge, stompy rapids on the river.
