Since the Middle Fork of the Salmon River is free of dams, the flow varies greatly throughout the rafting season. The selection of dates above reflect the early season to travel down this spectacular river. There is a potential for great Class IV whitewater, but the weather can be unpredictable. Because of the high water, these trips are not a good choice for kids under 16.

You'll want to choose one of these early season dates if you:

  • Hope to raft the full 100 miles of the Middle Fork from Boundary Creek to Cache Bar
  • Have only 4 or 5 days for the trip
  • Are looking for exhilarating whitewater
  • Would enjoy seeing spring wildflowers and wildlife
  • Are prepared for potentially cold or wet weather
  • Would like to avoid the flight in a small plane to the river
  • Are comfortable setting up and taking down your tent when necessary
