Middle Fork Snowpack Update

— Zachary / Wednesday, March 12, 2014

The snowpack on the Middle Fork of the Salmon is now well above average! Here's a map that shows the snow water equivalent (% of normal) for each river basin in Idaho.

Here at ECHO World Headquarters, we regularly talk to guides, other outfitters, and gear manufacturers and our favorite topic is snowpack. At the end of January of this year we were talking about how bad it was. February, however, brought us an onslaught of storms that continued into early March and now the tone of conversation has changed to how perfect this summer should be.

The good news is that we still have time to get even more snow! Here's a photo from a trip we launched on May 28th, 2006.

We're excited about the current snowpack and are hoping Mother Nature gives us a little bit more.

Winter is coming.
