Job Description
We are looking for the right person to manage our Middle Fork of the Salmon operation in Salmon, Idaho. You will be responsible for overseeing our operation and making sure that guides have everything they need to run the highest quality trips.
This is great job for someone looking for management experience, a guide looking to be involved full time with the river but not guiding full time, or someone with management experience and looking for a new home with a great river family. This is a very demanding and rewarding job.
Responsibilities
- Scheduling
- Gear and truck maintenance
- Organizing logistics for multi-day trips
- Driving our truck and trailer
- Maintaining great relationships with local businesses
- Guide mentor and coach
- Maintaining good relations with ECHO World Headquarters
- Organizing trip packets for trips
- Stocking and buying bulk food items
- Ordering food for trips
- Opening and closing down our operation
- Anything else associated with running a smooth operation
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of the Middle Fork of the Salmon River
- Great guiding skills - you will get on the river every few weeks and need to coach younger guides
- Ability to see the big picture of a large operation
- Great people skills - keeping river guides happy and on task is no easy chore
- Good time and stress management skills
- Being able to work tirelessly for the entire summer - days off are not guaranteed
- A passion for running rivers and running top quality river trips
- Good handy person - your ability to fix things is crucial given our occasionally intense turn around schedule
